Cookie Policy
What this site stores on your device, and what it does not.
We do not use tracking, advertising or analytics cookies. There is no Google Analytics, no advertising pixel and no social media tracker anywhere on this site. Nothing here follows you to other websites, and we do not build a profile of you or sell anything about you.
What we do store is the short list below: one cookie that keeps you signed in, and two entries that remember your language choice so you do not have to make it again on every page.
What we store
| Name | Type | What it is for | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
refresh_token | Cookie | Keeps you signed in, so you are not asked for your password again every time you open a page. Only set once you log in. Your browser sends it to us automatically; JavaScript on the page cannot read it. | Until it expires or you log out |
ml_lang | Local storage | The language you picked, English, French or Arabic. Only written when you choose one. | Until you clear your browser data |
ml_translations | Local storage | Translations already fetched for the language you chose, kept so the same sentence is not requested twice. It holds page wording, never anything you typed. | Until you clear your browser data |
Local storage is not a cookie. It stays in your browser on your device and is never sent to us. We list it here because the difference matters to your browser and not to you.
Why there is no cookie banner
Consent is what you ask for before storing things you do not need, which in practice means analytics and advertising. Everything in the table above is either required to deliver something you asked for, staying signed in, or is the setting you yourself chose. Neither needs permission, and a banner asking for it would be asking about nothing.
If we ever add analytics or any other non-essential tracking, we will ask first, and it will be off until you say yes.
Other services this site talks to
Some parts of the site load from other companies. They do not set cookies here, but loading anything from another company tells them your IP address, which is how the internet works. These are all of them:
Fonts are not on this list. The typeface is served from this site, so simply opening a page tells nobody but us.
- MyMemory translates the site into French and Arabic. It is contacted only if you switch away from English, and it receives the wording of the page being translated, never anything you have typed into a form.
- MapTiler supplies map tiles on pages that show a map, and receives your IP address when one loads.
- Whish Money handles payment. Choosing to donate or to pay a membership fee takes you to their own website, and anything you enter there is covered by their terms, not ours.
Clearing what is stored
Logging out removes the sign-in cookie. Everything else clears through your browser's own settings, usually under privacy or site data. Clearing it costs you nothing beyond being signed out and having to pick your language again.
