Sorting & preparation guidelines
Clean sorting protects recyclable streams and ensures everything you bring can actually be processed by our Lebanese recycling partners.
What to do
- Rinse and empty plastic bottles, drink cans, and glass jars so no residue remains.
- Flatten cardboard boxes and juice or milk cartons to save space.
- Keep household batteries and small electronics dry and separated for dedicated bins.
- Keep paper and cardboard clean and protected from moisture.
What to avoid
- No food waste, organic matter, or grease-stained paper (like greasy pizza boxes).
- No medical waste, sanitary items, or syringes.
- No shattered window panes, mirrors, or ceramic kitchenware.
- No motor oil or toxic industrial chemical containers.

Plastic bottle
Empty it, give it a rinse, and leave the cap off. Rinsing matters: one bottle of leftover juice can spoil a whole bag of paper it travels with.

Accepted once it is clean and dry. Anything with food still in it gets pulled out and thrown away later, so it is worth the rinse.

Not at our points. Soft plastic tangles in sorting equipment, so it is handled separately from bottles and tubs. Reuse them if you can.

Aluminium can
Rinse and bring. Aluminium is the most valuable thing you can hand us: it is worth the most per kilogram and recycles endlessly without losing quality.

Accepted if the grease is off. Scrunch clean foil into a ball, it stops small pieces getting lost in sorting.

Cardboard box
Flatten it and pull off the packing tape and any plastic labels. Flattened boxes mean we can carry several times more per trip.

Pizza box
Tear it in half. The clean lid goes in with cardboard, the greasy base does not, because oil cannot be separated from paper fibre.

Paper and newspaper
Keep it dry and loose. Wet paper is not worth reprocessing, so keep it out of the rain on the way over.

Not with the paper. Receipts are usually thermal paper, which is coated and contaminates a paper batch.

No. The fibre is already too short to reuse, and used tissues are a contamination problem on top of that.

Accepted. Empty and rinse out any dairy or juice residue, then flatten to save volume. Leave the plastic cap screwed on so it recycles with the carton.

Accepted. Rinse thoroughly and remove metal or plastic lids. Keep bottles and jars intact: do not bring shattered window panes, mirrors, or ceramics.

Accepted. Bring household AA, AAA, 9V, button cell, and laptop/phone batteries to our dedicated battery bins. Place tape over lithium terminals for safety.

Do I need an account to drop off items today?
No account is needed right now. Anyone can bring sorted recyclables to our drop-off hubs. Our team on-site will weigh your materials and record your contribution.
Why do plastic bottles and metal cans need to be rinsed?
Rinsing removes residual sugars, dairy, and oils that attract pests and cause odors. Unrinsed containers can also contaminate whole batches of paper and cardboard during transport.
How should I prepare glass bottles and beverage cartons?
Rinse glass bottles and jars thoroughly and remove metal or plastic lids. Keep glass containers intact (we cannot accept broken window glass, mirrors, or ceramics). For juice and milk cartons, rinse out residue, flatten them to save transport volume, and leave the plastic screw cap attached.
How do I safely drop off household batteries and e-waste?
Keep batteries and electronic devices completely dry. Bring household AA, AAA, 9V, and power banks to our dedicated on-site battery collection bins. For lithium batteries, cover terminals with tape to prevent short circuits. Old phones, chargers, and small broken appliances can be handed directly to our team for specialized e-waste recycling.
Can I recycle plastic bags, chip packets, or nylon wraps?
Not at our standard hubs. Soft thin film plastics tangle in mechanical sorting balers and require specialized recycling streams. Please reuse shopping bags at home whenever possible.
How do points and rewards work once online accounts launch?
Every kilogram of accepted material earns reward points. Once accounts roll out, your logged points can be redeemed for store gear discounts, outdoor activity tickets, and local partner offers.
